Reply templates that answer first

Copy-ready replies for the five kinds of buyer posts: hiring, recommendations, switching from a competitor, price questions and problems. Helpful first, light on the pitch.

They're hiring someone

Example post

“Looking to hire a Webflow developer for a 5-page site, ~$2k.”

→Lead with one relevant example, not a portfolio dump.
→Answer their scope or timeline question in the reply itself.
→Follow the community's rules on public replies vs DMs.

Hi! I've built [similar thing] for [type of client] — for example [one specific, relevant project].

For your [project], I'd start with [first step], then [second step]. Realistic timeline: [X] weeks.

Happy to share a couple of examples or jump on a quick call. Either way, good luck with the launch!

They want recommendations

Example post

“Which CRM do you recommend for a 5-person agency?”

→Recommend others honestly. Credibility is what gets you picked.
→Always disclose that it's your product.
→Keep the mention of your product to one line.

For a [team size] [type of team], I'd look at three things: [criterion 1], [criterion 2] and [criterion 3].

[Option A] is great if [situation]. [Option B] if [situation].

Full disclosure: I work on [your product], which is built for [specific case] — but if [their situation], [Option A] is probably the better fit.

They're unhappy with a competitor

Example post

“Switching from Zapier, it's getting too expensive at 10k tasks.”

→Name their pain exactly; don't trash the competitor.
→Give at least one option that isn't yours.
→Offer migration help, the real blocker to switching.

That pricing jump at [volume] catches a lot of teams. A few options depending on what you need:

- If you want [benefit], [option] works well.
- If you'd rather [benefit], [option].

If it helps: [your product] handles [their exact pain] — happy to show you how others moved over in an afternoon.

They're asking about price

Example post

“How much should a Shopify store setup cost?”

→Give real ranges. Vague answers get skipped.
→Explain what drives the price.
→Ask for one detail rather than pushing a call.

It depends mostly on [factor 1] and [factor 2]. Rough ranges I see:

- [Scope A]: $[range]
- [Scope B]: $[range]

The thing that usually moves the price most is [factor]. Happy to give a quick estimate if you share [detail].

They describe a problem (no ask yet)

Example post

“We spend 10 hours a week copying invoices between tools.”

→No pitch at all. Just solve it.
→Specific steps beat general advice.
→These people often come back when they're ready to buy.

We had the same problem. What fixed it for us was [specific fix].

Quick version: [step 1], then [step 2]. It took about [time] to set up.

How to use the templates

1Match the template to the kind of post.
2Replace every [bracket] with specifics. Generic replies get ignored.
3Cut anything that sounds like an ad; keep the answer.
4Disclose when you mention your own product.

Questions

Why answer first and pitch later?+

Should I DM people instead?+

Only if the community allows it or the author asks. Unsolicited DMs are against many communities' rules.
